The NanoSafety Research Group at Heriot-Watt University includes assessment of the biological impacts of engineered nanomaterials to human health and the environment. In addition, we use this knowledge to inform safer by design approaches for engineered nanomaterials and nanomedicines. This expertise is also applied to air pollution impacts on human health as well as the development of implants for vaccine delivery. The NanoSafety Group is developing Intelligent Testing Strategies for nanomaterials and nanomedicines that can feed into and streamline approaches for risk assessment including Grouping.
