LEITAT is a private non-profit RTO with more than 110 years of valuable experience in industrial innovation. We transform technological solutions and scientific results into economic and competitive values for our clients and collabora­ting entities. LEITAT is strongly committed to over 1500 customers that benefit from our creative and innovative solutions.

We bring added value to our customers by delivering technological innovations through applied research and development activities in areas including advance materials, advanced manufacturing, renewable energies, storage system, circular economy, sustainability and environment. We rely upon our 240 highly skilled team members who deliver flexible and innovative solutions in the face of any industrial challenge.

LEITAT has a strong presence and valuable experiences in carrying out research under different international and national funding schemes including FP7 and Horizon 2020. 96 EU awarded project and 65 H2020 projects are proof of LEITAT capabilities in coordinating, managing and executing of international projects.   

 LEITAT is recognized by the Spanish Government as a CIT (Centre of Technological Innovation) and is one the 5 Technology Centers that is accredited by the Regional Government of Catalonia. Finally, it is member of FEDIT (Federation of Technological Centers in Spain) and the IT Network of the Catalan Regional Government.

HEHS Division of LEITAT offers technological support to different industrial sectors with the aim to ensure that their nanotechnology based-products and processes are safe for human health and for the environment as well as providing nanotechnology-based solutions for advancing medical science and disease treatment in human healthcare. Our mission is carried out by a multidisciplinary team (biologists, toxicologists, chemists, engineers) organized in two main technological platforms: Nanosafety and Nanotechnology in Healthcare platforms. 

Nanosafety Platform: Our main focus is to ensure the safe use of nanotechnologies, providing: Advisory services, R&D expertise and testing facilities to assess the potential impact of nanomaterials and nano-enabled products in human and environmental health.

Nanotechnology in Healthcare Platform: The team focuses in exploiting the novel properties of materials at the nanoscale on two key areas: Application of nanotechnology for delivery of therapeutics and biosensing or medical diagnostics.
